2.4.3 Finish. Towels shall be embossed.
3. Bleaching. To obtain an acceptable brightness, or color, in accordance with this document, a chemical bleaching process may be used. When specified (see Paragraph 7) the bleaching process shall not include the use of chlorine, chlorine dioxide, hypochlorite, or other chlorine containing compound. Certification of compliance shall be made available upon request by the Government.
4. Regulatory Requirements. The paper used in the manufacture of the towels shall conform to the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, Title 21, Code of Federal Regulations and the regulations promulgated therein.
5. Quality Assurance Provisions. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all the inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the contractor may utilize his own facilities or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this Commercial Item Description, where such inspection are deemed necessary to assure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
Sampling for examination and tests shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105, using the plans specified in Table II, unless otherwise stated. For the purposes of sampling, a lot shall consist of all towels submitted for inspection at one time. Random samples shall be drawn from each lot for the end item inspection. Unless otherwise specified, every lot shall be tested.
For preparation for delivery examination, the sample unit shall be one fully prepared shipping container. For all other examinations, the sample unit shall be one towel, unless specified otherwise.
