2.3 Embossing. The napkin shall be embossed on the edges only to a depth of 2.5 cm +/- cm (1 inch +/- 3/16 inch). The embossing shall be a simple ripple or bark type pattern with mitred corners, finished on the inside with simple rope beading or ribbon type edge from 0.15 cm to 0.6 cm (1/16 to 1/4 inch) wide. The trade mark or identification of the manufacturer shall not appear on the napkin.
2.4 Style and Dimensions. Napkins shall be three-ply and quarter-folded. When unfolded, the napkin shall comply with the following dimensions:
Length – 26.7 cm +/- 1.3 cm (10 inch +/- 1/2 inch)
Width – 26.7 cm +/- 1.3 cm (10 inch +/- 1/2 inch)
2.5 General Requirements.
2.5.1 Odor. Napkins shall have no disagreeable odor, either wet or dry.
2.5.2 Color. Napkins shall be white and of uniform color.
2.5.3 Great Seal. The Great Seal shall be printed in gold ink and placed
on the napkin exactly as shown in Fig. A.
3. . Bleaching. To obtain an acceptable brightness, or color, in
accordance with this document, a chemical bleaching process may be used. When
specified (see Paragraph 7) the bleaching process shall not include the use of
chlorine, chlorine dioxide, hypochlorite, or other chlorine containing
compound. Certification of compliance shall be made available upon request by
the Government.
4. Regulatory Requirements. The contractor shall certify that the
napkins offered shall include a minimum of 30% postconsumer recovered materials
in accordance with CFR 40 Part 250. The Government reserves the right to
require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may
be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
