2.3 Physical Requirements.

2.4 Style and Dimensions. Place mats shall be either Style A or Style B. The corners shall be either straight or rounded.
Style A: Straight edges
Place mats shall be either 457 +/- 13mm x 305 +/- 13mm (18 +/- 1/2 inch x 12 +/- 1/2 inch) or 508 +/- 13mm x 381 +/- 13mm (20 +/- 1/2 inch x 15 +/- 1/2 inch), as specified in the ordering data.
Style B: Scallop edges
Place mats shall be 483 +/- 13mm x 356 +/- 13mm (19 +/- 1/2 inch x 14 +/- 1/2 inch).
The scallop depth shall be not more than 8mm (5/16 inch).
2.5 General Requirements.
2.5.1 Odor. Place mats shall have no disagreeable odor, either wet or dry.
2.5.2 Color. Place mats shall be white and uniform color.
2.5.3 Finish. Place mats shall be embossed.
3. Bleaching. To obtain an acceptable brightness, or color, in accordance with this document, a chemical bleaching process may be used. When specified (see paragraph 7) the bleaching process shall not include the use of chlorine dioxide, hypochlorate, or other chlorine containing compounds. Certification of compliance shall be made available upon request by the Government.
