COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PAPER PLACE MAT OR PAPER TRAY COVER
(PAPER, DOILY)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description, for all Federal Agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers white, paper place mats to be used on food service trays in hospitals and other institutions.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
2.1 Description. Place mats furnished under this description shall be made from bleached chemical wood pulp and shall have an embossed surface with either straight or scalloped edges.
2.2 Workmanship. The place mats shall be clean and free of holes, tears, wrinkles, ragged edges, dirt, or foreign particles that adversely affect appearance or serviceability. There shall be no visible clumps of undispersed fibers or thin looking areas in the place mat. Packaged place mats shall be easy to separate from one another without sticking together or pulling fibers from the paper surfaces.
